- Avancé — 16–17 years old
- Supérieur — 18–20 years old
Levels
Recreational · Pre-competitive — Three self-declared levels: amateur (~5 h of dance a week), avancé (6–12 h) and pre-pro (12 h+, professional track). The jury may reclassify a candidate who ticked the wrong box.
Variations
- Free — All categories, in classical as well as modern-jazz and contemporary · 8–20 years old
- Repertoire — Intermédiaire, Avancé and Supérieur — pre-pro category only · 14–20 years old
Timings: 1 min 45 max for Préparatoire, 2 min max above; duos 3 min, groups 3 min 30 (duo/group categories by average age, all disciplines). Demi-pointe up to Moyen 1, pointe from Moyen 2.
Masterclasses. An on-stage class in front of the jury on Saturday morning for all soloists — it is part of the competition, letting the jury see candidates before the variations.
Jury. 2027 jury not yet announced — “recognised names” in classical, contemporary and modern-jazz. Decisions are final.
What you can win. Gold, silver, bronze and finalist medals; City of Dax prize; audience prize; special jury prize; workshops and cash prizes. Marking: technique /20 + artistry /20.
Worth knowing. First edition in 2027, created by two former professional dancers from the Basque Country. Open from age 8, three disciplines. The final uses the same variation as the heats, but in stage costume. Streamed live on Facebook; photos and videos forbidden (professionals handle both).
