- Free — A free contemporary or lyrical piece, in Supreme A and B only — the Junior category dances the set solo alone · 13–18 years old

Jury. Published for 2027: Li Cunxin, former artistic director of Queensland Ballet, Mary Li, former principal with English National Ballet and Houston Ballet, and Ty King-Wall, director of the Royal New Zealand Ballet.
What you can win. NZ$60,000 in cash and over NZ$100,000 in elite scholarships. Supreme A and B: NZ$11,000 / 6,000 / 3,000. Winners also receive free entry to the YAGP Sydney seminar.
Worth knowing. One of the few competitions to publish both its jury and its prize money in full. It is an Australasian competition: check eligibility for European entrants before committing.
